FKS Special Taper Mill

Application

FKS special taper mill is designed for removing restrictions and ledges in a casing, and also deburring, reaming out collapsed or deformed tubulars during remediation operation in a well.

Design

The taper mill consists of a body, made of heavy-duty alloy steel and cutting-crushing braze of crushed tungsten carbide in nickel/brass matrix.
The mill has thread connection at its upper end, stabilizing pads (if required) in the middle. The lower end is in the form of a taper.
Taper has stripes of cutting and crushing braze converging at its tip.
Mud circulates through inclined ports in the middle of the taper and lateral watercourses of the body.
The mill is available with inclination angle of 30 or 60 degree; and with left- or right-hand thread connection.
Due to its design, the lower cutting tip of the taper mill, having minor diameter, can enter constricted section of the tubing, while diverging sharp edges recover ID of collapsed tubing.
